अप्रमेयम् हि तत् तेजो यस्य सा जनकात्मजा ।
न त्वम् समर्थः ताम् हर्तुम् राम चाप आश्रयाम् वने ॥ ॥३-३७-१८॥
Aprameyam hi tat tejo yasya sā janakātmajā । Na tvam samarthaḥ tām hartum rāma cāpa āśrayām vane ॥ ॥3-37-18॥
Translation
Indeed, immeasurable is the luster (power) of him to whom that daughter of Janaka belongs. You are not capable of abducting her while she rests under the protection of Rama's bow in the forest.

जिनका वह तेज (पराक्रम) अपार और अतुलनीय है, उन श्रीराम के धनुष के आश्रय में वन में रहने वाली जनकनन्दिनी सीता का हरण करने में आप समर्थ नहीं हैं।
English Commentary
Maricha invokes the concept of 'Aprameyam Tejas'—immeasurable radiance and martial prowess—belonging to Rama. He bluntly tells Ravana, "You are not capable" (Na tvam samarthah), directly challenging the Rakshasa King's pride. The imagery used for Sita is profound; she is described as sheltering not within a house, but under the "protection of Rama's bow." This implies that abiding in the forest does not make her vulnerable; rather, the reach of Rama’s weaponry creates an invisible, impenetrable fortress around her that Ravana cannot breach without facing immediate destruction.

इस श्लोक में 'तेज' शब्द का प्रयोग राम की आध्यात्मिक और शारीरिक शक्ति दोनों के लिए किया गया है, जिसे 'अप्रमेय' (जिसे मापा न जा सके) कहा गया है। मारीच रावण के अहंकार पर चोट करते हुए कहता है कि 'न त्वम् समर्थः'—तुम सक्षम नहीं हो। यहाँ सीता को 'राम चाप आश्रयाम्' (राम के धनुष के आश्रय में) स्थित बताया गया है। इसका भावार्थ यह है कि सीता किसी भौतिक किले में नहीं, बल्कि राम के कोदंड की अभेद्य सुरक्षा में हैं। मारीच यह स्पष्ट कर रहा है कि राम का धनुष, लक्ष्मण रेखा या किसी दीवार से कहीं अधिक शक्तिशाली सुरक्षा कवच है।
