अपि स्वस्ति भवेत् तात सर्वेषाम् भुवि रक्षसाम् ।
अपि रामो न संक्रुद्धः कुर्यात् लोकम् अराक्षसम् ॥३-३७-४॥
Api svasti bhavet tāta sarveṣām bhuvi rakṣasām । Api rāmo na saṃkruddhaḥ kuryāt lokam arākṣasam ॥3-37-4॥
Translation
May there be well-being for all Rakshasas on earth, O dear one. I fear lest the enraged Rama renders the world void of Rakshasas.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे तात! पृथ्वी पर सभी राक्षसों का कल्याण हो। कहीं ऐसा न हो कि कुपित होकर राम इस संसार को राक्षसों से रहित (अराक्षसम्) कर दें।
English Commentary
Maricha expresses a prophetic fear not just for himself, but for the entire Rakshasa race. Addressing Ravana as tāta (a term of endearment/respect), he wishes for the svasti (well-being) of their people. However, his warning is stark: Rama's wrath constitutes an existential threat. He fears Rama will make the world arākṣasam (void of Rakshasas). This hyperbolic yet realistic fear stems from Maricha’s knowledge of Rama’s power—if one man could destroy Khara and Dushana's army, he could certainly wipe out Lanka if provoked by such a personal violation.

मारीच की चिंता केवल अपने प्राणों के लिए नहीं, बल्कि पूरी राक्षस जाति के लिए है। वह 'तात' (पिता तुल्य या प्रिय) शब्द का प्रयोग कर आत्मीयता दर्शाता है। उसे भविष्य स्पष्ट दिखाई दे रहा है—यदि सीता का हरण हुआ, तो राम का क्रोध (संक्रुद्धः) केवल रावण तक सीमित नहीं रहेगा, बल्कि वह पूरी जाति का विनाश (लोकम् अराक्षसम्) कर देगा। यह श्लोक जनस्थान में हुए खर-दूषण के वध की याद दिलाता है, जहाँ राम ने अकेले १४,००० राक्षसों को मारा था। मारीच उसी इतिहास की पुनरावृत्ति को रोकना चाहता है।
