न च पित्रा परित्यक्तो न अमर्यादः कथंचन ।
न लुब्धो न च दुःशीलो न च क्षत्रिय पांसनः ॥३-३७-८॥
Na ca pitrā parityakto na amaryādaḥ kathaṃcana । Na lubdho na ca duḥśīlo na ca kṣatriya pāṃsanaḥ ॥3-37-8॥
Translation
He (Rama) has not been abandoned by his father, nor is he devoid of propriety in any way. He is not greedy, nor of bad conduct, nor is he a stain on the Kshatriya race.

(तुमने जो कहा वह सत्य नहीं है) राम न तो पिता द्वारा त्यागे गए हैं, न ही वे किसी भी प्रकार से मर्यादাহीन हैं। वे न तो लोभी हैं, न दुराचारी हैं और न ही क्षत्रिय कुल पर कलंक हैं।
English Commentary
In previous conversations, Ravana had disparaged Rama based on false intelligence, calling him an outcast abandoned by his father. Maricha systematically refutes these claims here. Using the negative particle na repeatedly, he asserts that Rama was not abandoned (parityakto), is not without limits/propriety (amaryādaḥ), not greedy (lubdho), and certainly not a disgrace to the warrior caste (kṣatriya pāṃsanaḥ). Maricha corrects the record, establishing that Rama’s exile was a choice of honor, not a punishment for vice.

पिछले सर्ग में रावण ने अकंपन या शूर्पणखा से सुनी बातों के आधार पर राम को 'पिता द्वारा त्यागा हुआ', 'मूर्ख' और 'अधर्मी' कहा था। यहाँ मारीच उन सभी आरोपों का खंडन (Rebuttal) करता है। वह 'न' (नहीं) शब्द का पांच बार प्रयोग करके रावण के झूठ को काटता है। वह स्पष्ट करता है कि वनवास 'परित्याग' नहीं था। राम 'अमर्याद' (मर्यादा तोड़ने वाले) नहीं हैं, बल्कि वे मर्यादा पुरुषोत्तम हैं। मारीच रावण की सूचना (Intelligence) को गलत साबित कर रहा है ताकि रावण अपने शत्रु का सही मूल्यांकन कर सके।
