शोभयन् दण्डकारण्यम् दीप्तेन स्वेन तेजसा ।
अदृश्यत तदा रामो बाल चन्द्र इव उदितः ॥ ॥३-३८-१५॥
Śobhayan daṇḍakāraṇyam dīptena svena tejasā । Adṛśyata tadā rāmo bāla candra iva uditaḥ ॥ ॥3-38-15॥
Translation
Illuminating the Dandaka forest with his own glowing radiance, Rama then appeared like the rising new moon.
हिंदी अनुवाद
अपने दीप्तिमान तेज से दण्डकारण्य को सुशोभित करते हुए, राम उस समय उदित होते हुए बाल-चंद्रमा (दूज के चाँद) के समान दिखाई दे रहे थे।
English Commentary
The aesthetic appraisal continues. Rama illuminates (Shobhayan) the dark Dandaka forest with his innate brilliance (Svena tejasa). The simile Bala chandra iva (like the new/crescent moon) is poetic and precise—implying something beautiful, rising, and destined to wax into fullness. It suggests a coolness that contradicts the heat of battle. Maricha admits that Rama’s presence changed the very atmosphere of the forest, radiating a charisma that was impossible to ignore, even for a demon intent on destruction.

मारीच राम की तुलना 'बाल चंद्र' (नये चंद्रमा) से करता है। जिस प्रकार बाल-चंद्रमा देखने में छोटा और सुंदर होता है, लेकिन उसमें बढ़ने की और शीतलता/प्रकाश देने की क्षमता होती है, वैसे ही राम थे। 'दीप्तेन स्वेन तेजसा' (अपने स्वयं के प्रदीप्त तेज से) यह दर्शाता है कि राम का प्रभाव किसी बाहरी आभूषण के कारण नहीं, बल्कि उनकी आंतरिक शक्ति के कारण था। उस अंधेरे वन में राम आशा और धर्म की किरण बनकर चमके। मारीच स्वीकार करता है कि वह दृश्य जितना सुंदर था, उसके लिए उतना ही घातक सिद्ध हुआ।
