हर्म्य प्रासाद संबाधाम् नाना रत्न विभूउषिताम् ।
द्रक्ष्यसि त्वम् पुरीम् लंकाम् विनष्टाम् मैथिली कृते ॥ ॥३-३८-२५॥
Harmya prāsāda saṃbādhām nānā ratna vibhūuṣitām । Drakṣyasi tvam purīm laṃkām vinaṣṭām maithilī kṛte ॥ ॥3-38-25॥
Translation
You will see the city of Lanka, crowded with mansions and palaces and adorned with various gems, destroyed for the sake of Maithili (Sita).
हिंदी अनुवाद
तुम मैथिली (सीता) के कारण, हवेलियों और महलों से भरी-पूरी तथा नाना प्रकार के रत्नों से विभूषित इस लंका पुरी को नष्ट हुई देखोगे।
English Commentary
A vivid prophecy of urban destruction. Maricha describes Lanka’s architectural splendor—crowded with Harmya (mansions) and Prasada (palaces), encrusted with gems. He contrasts this wealth with the vision of it being Vinashtam (destroyed). The causality is explicit: Maithili krite (for the sake of Sita). Maricha warns that the price of possessing Sita is the annihilation of this magnificent infrastructure. It’s a stark choice: Keep Lanka or take Sita. You cannot have both.

यह श्लोक हनुमान द्वारा लंका दहन की पूर्व-छाया (Foreshadowing) प्रतीत होता है। मारीच लंका के वैभव का वर्णन करता है—'हर्म्य प्रासाद' (गगनचुंबी भवन) और 'रत्न विभूषित' (रत्नों से जड़ी हुई)—और फिर कहता है कि रावण इसे 'विनष्टाम्' (नष्ट हुई) देखेगा। कारण? 'मैथिली कृते' (सीता के लिए)। मारीच स्पष्ट कर रहा है कि सीता का अपहरण लंका की ईंट से ईंट बजा देगा। जो सोने की लंका आज चमक रही है, वह सीता के श्राप और राम के कोप से राख हो जाएगी।
