हृत दारान् स दारान् च दश विद्रवतो दिशः ।
हत शेषान् अशरणान् द्रक्ष्यसि त्वम् निशाचरान् ॥ ॥३-३८-२८॥
Hṛta dārān sa dārān ca daśa vidravato diśaḥ । Hata śeṣān aśaraṇān drakṣyasi tvam niśācarān ॥ ॥3-38-28॥
Translation
You will see the night-wandering Rakshasas fleeing in ten directions—some having lost their wives, others fleeing with them. Those remaining, who escape death, will be seen wandering helplessly without refuge.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तुम देखोगे कि बहुत से निशाचर (राक्षस) अपनी पत्नियों के हरण हो जाने पर, या पत्नियों के साथ ही दसों दिशाओं में भाग रहे होंगे। जो युद्ध में मारे जाने से बच गए होंगे, वे आश्रयहीन होकर इधर-उधर भटकते दिखाई देंगे।
English Commentary
In this verse, Maricha provides a prophetic vision of the total chaos that war with Rama will bring. He emphasizes not just the death of the king, but the complete societal collapse of the Rakshasa race. The imagery of citizens fleeing in 'ten directions,' either having lost their spouses or frantically trying to save them, paints a picture of absolute panic and displacement. The term asharanan (without refuge) suggests that once the leader (Ravana) falls due to his adharma, the protection of the state vanishes, leaving the survivors vulnerable and homeless. It serves as a stern warning that a king's personal vice can lead to the collective doom of his subjects.

इस श्लोक में मारीच रावण को युद्ध के भयानक परिणामों का एक भविष्यवादी चित्रण दे रहा है। वह केवल रावण की मृत्यु की बात नहीं कर रहा, बल्कि पूरे राक्षस समाज के विघटन की ओर संकेत कर रहा है। 'हृत दारान्' (जिनकी पत्नियां हर ली गईं) और 'अशरणान्' (बिना आश्रय के) जैसे शब्द यह बताते हैं कि राम से शत्रुता करने पर लंका की सामाजिक और पारिवारिक संरचना पूरी तरह नष्ट हो जाएगी। यह एक राजा को चेतावनी है कि उसका एक गलत निर्णय उसकी पूरी प्रजा को अनाथ और भगोड़ा बना सकता है। युद्ध केवल सैनिकों को नहीं मारता, वह परिवारों को भी उजाड़ देता है।
