शर जाल परिक्षिप्ताम् अग्नि ज्वाला समावृताम् ।
प्रदग्ध भवनाम् लंकाम् द्रक्ष्यसि त्वम् असंशयम् ॥ ॥३-३८-२९॥
Śara jāla parikṣiptām agni jvālā samāvṛtām । Pradagdha bhavanām laṃkām drakṣyasi tvam asaṃśayam ॥ ॥3-38-29॥
Translation
Without a doubt, you will see Lanka surrounded by a net of arrows, enveloped in flames of fire, with its mansions burnt to the ground.

निःसंदेह तुम लंका को बाणों के जाल से घिरी हुई, आग की लपटों में लिपटी हुई और भस्म हुए महलों वाली देखोगे।
English Commentary
Maricha’s foresight here is chillingly accurate, predicting the burning of Lanka—a catastrophic event that eventually comes to pass. The phrase shara jala parikshiptam (encircled by a web of arrows) alludes to the overwhelming military prowess of Rama, while the reference to fire prefigures the destruction caused by Hanuman and the final war. Maricha attempts to shatter Ravana’s illusion of invincibility regarding his capital city. He asserts that stone walls and golden palaces are no defense against the retribution of Dharma. The verse emphasizes the inevitability of destruction (asamshayam - without doubt) if Ravana proceeds on this path.

यहाँ मारीच की दूरदर्शिता अत्यंत स्पष्ट है। वह लंका के दहन का वर्णन ऐसे कर रहा है जैसे वह उसे अपनी आँखों के सामने घटित होते देख रहा हो। 'शर जाल परिक्षिप्ताम्' (बाणों के जाल से घिरी हुई) राम के युद्ध कौशल को दर्शाता है, जबकि 'अग्नि ज्वाला समावृताम्' (आग से घिरी हुई) हनुमान द्वारा लंका दहन या युद्ध के अंत में होने वाले विनाश का संकेत है। मारीच रावण को यह समझाना चाहता है कि लंका का वैभव, जिसे रावण इतना सुरक्षित मानता है, राम के क्रोध के सामने क्षणभंगुर है। यह श्लोक भौतिक संपदा और किलों की नश्वरता को उजागर करता है जब वे धर्म के विरुद्ध खड़े होते हैं।
