Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
स्वयम् गत्वा दशरथम् नरेन्द्रम् इदम् अब्रवीत् ।
अयम् रक्षतु माम् रामः पर्व काले समाहितः ॥ ॥३-३८-४॥
Svayam gatvā daśaratham narendram idam abravīt । Ayam rakṣatu mām rāmaḥ parva kāle samāhitaḥ ॥ ॥3-38-4॥
Translation
(Vishvamitra) went personally to King Dasharatha and spoke thus: "Let this Rama, fully concentrated, protect me during the time of the holy festival (sacrifice)."

(विश्वामित्र) स्वयं राजा दशरथ के पास गए और उनसे यह कहा: "पर्व काल (यज्ञ के समय) में, एकाग्रचित्त होकर यह राम मेरी रक्षा करें।"
English Commentary
Maricha recounts that Sage Vishvamitra personally approached Dasharatha, bypassing formal messengers, which underscores the urgency and specificity of his request. The sage explicitly requested Rama for protection during the Parva Kala (the auspicious time of sacrifice). By using the word Samahitah (steadfast/concentrated), Vishvamitra indicated that the task required not just martial skill, but spiritual focus. Maricha highlights this to show Ravana that Rama was the chosen protector of Dharma even before he reached manhood, recognized by the wisest of sages.

मारीच यह प्रसंग इसलिए सुना रहा है ताकि रावण को यह पता चले कि राम की शक्ति की पहचान केवल राक्षसों को ही नहीं, बल्कि ऋषियों को भी बचपन से थी। विश्वामित्र जैसे 'महामुनि', जिनके पास स्वयं अपार दिव्य अस्त्र थे, उन्होंने अपनी रक्षा के लिए किसी सेनापति को नहीं, बल्कि बालक राम को चुना। 'स्वयम् गत्वा' (स्वयं जाकर) दर्शाता है कि विश्वामित्र को राम की आवश्यकता कितनी अधिक थी। 'समाहितः' शब्द महत्वपूर्ण है; मुनि जानते थे कि यज्ञ रक्षा के लिए केवल बाहुबल नहीं, बल्कि मानसिक एकाग्रता और संयम की भी आवश्यकता होती है, जो राम में नैसर्गिक थी।
