Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
ते बाणा वज्र संकाशाः सुघोरा रक्त भोजनाः ।
आजग्मुः सहिताः सर्वे त्रयः संनतपर्वणः ।
॥३-३९-१२॥
Te bāṇā vajra saṃkāśāḥ sughorā rakta bhojanāḥ । Ājagmuḥ sahitāḥ sarve trayaḥ saṃnataparvaṇāḥ ॥ ॥3-39-12॥
Translation
Those arrows were like thunderbolts, terrifying, and feeding on blood. All three arrived together, straight-jointed and aimed perfectly.

वे तीनों बाण वज्र के समान कठोर, अत्यंत भयानक और रक्त पीने वाले थे। वे तीनों एक साथ, झुकी हुई गांठों वाले (सीधे लक्ष्य की ओर) आए।
English Commentary
The imagery here is graphic and terrifying. The arrows are personified as rakta bhojanah (blood-feeders), giving them a predatory quality. Comparing them to the Vajra (Indra's thunderbolt) implies they are unstoppable and destructive. The detail that they arrived sahitah (together) indicates Rama's ability to fire multiple projectiles simultaneously with perfect precision. Maricha conveys the sheer terror of facing such weaponry, trying to make Ravana understand that these are not ordinary arrows, but instruments of absolute death.

बाणों का वर्णन अत्यंत भयावह है। उन्हें 'रक्त भोजनाः' (खून पीने वाले) कहा गया है, जो युद्ध की विभीषिका को दर्शाता है। 'वज्र संकाशाः' (इंद्र के वज्र के समान) उनकी अमोघ शक्ति को बताता है—यानी उनसे बचना असंभव है। 'सहिताः सर्वे त्रयः' (तीनों एक साथ आए) राम के कौशल को दिखाता है कि वे एक साथ कई बाणों को सटीकता से छोड़ सकते हैं। मारीच उस क्षण को याद कर रहा है जब मृत्यु उसके बिल्कुल सामने थी। यह वर्णन रावण के मन में भय उत्पन्न करने के लिए किया गया है।
