Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
अपि राम सहस्राणि भीतः पश्यामि रावण ।
राम भूतम् इदं सर्वम् अरण्यम् प्रतिभाति मे ॥ ॥३-३९-१६॥
Api rāma sahasrāṇi bhītaḥ paśyāmi rāvaṇa । Rāma bhūtam idam sarvam araṇyam pratibhāti me ॥ ॥3-39-16॥
Translation
O Ravana, out of fear, I see thousands of Ramas. This entire forest appears to me to be filled with/consisting of Rama alone.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे रावण! मैं डर के मारे हजारों राम देखता हूँ। मुझे यह पूरा अरण्य (वन) राम-मय ही प्रतीत होता है।
English Commentary
The paranoia escalates. Maricha confesses to seeing "thousands of Ramas." The phrase Rama bhutam idam sarvam (this whole world/forest has become Rama) is deeply ironic; usually, seeing God everywhere is the sign of a high saint, but here it is the symptom of a terrified survivor. His reality has been overwritten by his fear of Rama. He tells Ravana this to emphasize that he is mentally incapable of facing Rama again, as his mind is already shattered by the mere memory of him.

मारीच का भय अब उन्माद (paranoia) के स्तर पर है। उसे एक राम नहीं, 'राम सहस्राणि' (हजारों राम) दिखते हैं। 'राम भूतम् इदं सर्वम्' (यह सब कुछ राममय है) - यह वाक्य वेदांत के 'सर्वं खल्विदं ब्रह्म' (सब कुछ ब्रह्म है) जैसा है, लेकिन यहाँ यह भक्ति नहीं, भय है। मारीच के लिए दुनिया का अस्तित्व मिट गया है, केवल राम का अस्तित्व बचा है। वह रावण को समझा रहा है कि जिस व्यक्ति का भय इतना व्यापक हो, उससे युद्ध करना पागलपन है।
