Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
तदेव रामेण निशम्य भाषितम् कृता मतिः तस्य बिल प्रवेशने ।
बिलम् च तेन अति बलेन रक्षसा प्रवेश्यमानेन वनम् विनादितम् ॥ ॥३-४-३२॥
tadeva rāmeṇa niśamya bhāṣitam kṛtā matiḥ tasya bila praveśane । bilam ca tena ati balena rakṣasā praveśyamānena vanam vināditam ॥ ॥3-4-32॥
Translation
Hearing that statement, Rama made up his mind to put him in the pit. As that exceedingly strong Rakshasa was being entered into the pit, the forest was made to resonate (with his cries).
हिंदी अनुवाद
(विराध के) उस कथन को सुनकर राम ने उसे गड्ढे में डालने का निश्चय किया। उस अत्यंत बलशाली राक्षस को जब गड्ढे में डाला जा रहा था, तो (उसकी गर्जना से) पूरा वन गूंज उठा।
English Commentary
Upon hearing the secret, Rama shows decisiveness (kṛtā matiḥ). The verse creates an auditory image: the forest resounding (vanam vināditam) with the cries of the demon being forced underground. It conveys the magnitude of the event—this wasn't a silent burial but a cataclysmic struggle ending in the earth swallowing a titan. The resonance suggests that the forest itself, which had suffered under Viradha's tyranny, was vibrating with the climax of his departure.

राम निर्णय लेने में त्वरित हैं (कृता मतिः)। जैसे ही उन्हें तकनीकी जानकारी मिली, उन्होंने कार्ययोजना बना ली। श्लोक का उत्तरार्ध दृश्य की भव्यता और भय को दर्शाता है। 'वनम् विनादितम्' (वन गूंज उठा)—विराध का आकार और स्वर इतना विशाल था कि उसके दफन की प्रक्रिया ने पूरे जंगल को कम्पायमान कर दिया। यह प्रकृति का भी इस घटना का साक्षी बनना है। 'अति बलेन' (अत्यंत बलशाली) शब्द फिर से यह याद दिलाता है कि राम ने किस स्तर की शक्ति को परास्त किया है।
