तस्य रौद्रस्य सोउमित्रिः सव्यम् बाहुम् बभञ्ज ह ।
रामः तु दक्षिणम् बाहुम् तरसा तस्य रक्षसः ॥ ॥३-४-५॥
Tasya raudrasya saumitriḥ savyam bāhum babhañja ha |
rāmaḥ tu dakṣiṇam bāhum tarasā tasya rakṣasaḥ ॥3-4-5॥
Translation
Sumitra's son (Lakshmana) shattered the left arm of that terrible demon, while Rama forcefully shattered the right arm.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तब सुमित्रानंदन लक्ष्मण ने उस भयानक राक्षस की बायीं भुजा को तोड़ डाला, और श्रीराम ने बलपूर्वक उसकी दाहिनी भुजा को तोड़ (काट) दिया।
English Commentary
Realizing that weapons were ineffective due to the boon, the brothers resort to dismantling the demon physically with brute force. Positioned on his shoulders, they have the leverage to strike at his limbs. The verse highlights their perfect coordination: Lakshmana takes the left arm (savyam bahum), Rama takes the right (dakshinam). The verb babhanja (broke/shattered) implies a gruesome and decisive action. By destroying the very arms that held them captive, they neutralized his ability to hold them or fight back, proving that intelligence and physical might can overcome magical immunity.

चूँकि हथियार विराध के शरीर पर असर नहीं कर रहे थे, इसलिए दोनों भाइयों ने शारीरिक बल का प्रयोग किया। जब विराध ने उन्हें कंधों पर उठा रखा था, तो यह स्थिति उनकी भुजाओं को तोड़ने के लिए उपयुक्त थी। राम ने दाहिनी और लक्ष्मण ने बायीं भुजा तोड़ी—यह दोनों भाइयों के बीच के तालमेल (synchronization) को दिखाता है। 'बभञ्ज' का अर्थ तोड़ना या मरोड़ना है। भुजाओं के टूटते ही विराध की पकड़ ढीली पड़ गई और वह निहत्था हो गया। यह राक्षस की शक्ति के स्रोत (उसकी भुजाओं) पर सीधा प्रहार था।
