अपक्रान्ते च काकुत्स्थे दूरम् च यात्वा अपि उदाहर ।
हा सीते लक्ष्मणे इति एवम् राम वाक्य अनुरूपकम् ॥३-४०-२०॥
apakrānte ca kākutsthe dūram ca yātvā api udāhara |
hā sīte lakṣmaṇe iti evam rāma vākya anurūpakam ॥3-40-20॥
Translation
And when Kakutstha (Rama) has gone far away (chasing you), you must cry out, "Ha Sita! Ha Lakshmana!" mimicking Rama's voice.
हिंदी अनुवाद
जब ककुत्स्थ कुल भूषण राम (तुम्हें पकड़ने के लिए) दूर निकल जाएँ, तब तुम राम की वाणी के अनुरूप (आवाज़ बनाकर) 'हा सीते! हा लक्ष्मण!' ऐसा पुकारना।
English Commentary
This represents the most deceitful and critical component of Ravana's plan. Simply drawing Rama away is insufficient; Lakshmana, the formidable guard, must also be removed. Ravana instructs Maricha to mimic Rama's voice (Rama vakya anurupakam). The distress call "Ha Sita! Ha Lakshmana!" is designed to induce panic, making Sita and Lakshmana believe Rama is in mortal danger. This is the height of deception. Knowing he cannot defeat Rama in open combat, Ravana resorts to psychological warfare to clear the field. It illustrates that those aligned with Adharma have no qualms about using fraud and mimicry to bypass the strength of righteousness.
