Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
एवम् मे निश्चिता बुद्धिः हृदि मारीच विद्यते ।
न व्यावर्तयितुम् शक्या स इन्द्रैः अपि सुर असुरैः ॥३-४०-७॥
evam me niścitā buddhiḥ hṛdi mārīca vidyate |
na vyāvartayitum śakyā sa indraiḥ api sura asuraiḥ ॥3-40-7॥
Translation
O Maricha, such is the determined resolve existing in my heart. It cannot be altered even by the gods and Asuras together with Indra.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे मारीच! मेरे हृदय में ऐसी ही निश्चित बुद्धि (निर्णय) विद्यमान है। इंद्र सहित समस्त देवता और असुर भी मिलकर इसे बदल नहीं सकते।
English Commentary
Ravana's arrogance and obstinacy reach their zenith here. He asserts that his resolve is absolute. By stating that his decision cannot be swayed even by Indra, gods, or demons combined, he displays a dangerous level of hubris. This assertion reflects a mind completely closed to reason or divine intervention. In the context of Dharma, when an individual places their ego above the collective wisdom of the cosmos (represented by gods and Asuras), destruction is inevitable. Ravana is effectively silencing Maricha by claiming omnipotence over his own will, signaling that further debate is futile as the course is set towards doom.

रावण का अहंकार और हठ यहाँ चरम सीमा पर है। वह स्पष्ट करता है कि उसका निर्णय अटल है। 'निश्चिता बुद्धिः' का अर्थ है कि उसने सभी पक्षों पर विचार कर लिया है (यद्यपि उसने केवल अपने अहंकार को सुना है) और अब वह पीछे नहीं हटेगा। वह चुनौती देता है कि त्रिभुवन की कोई भी शक्ति—चाहे वह देवराज इंद्र हों या असुर—उसे रोक नहीं सकती। यह कथन 'विनाशकाले विपरीत बुद्धि' का प्रमाण है। जब कोई व्यक्ति देवतुल्य शक्तियों और धर्म के विरोध में खड़ा होकर अपनी जिद्द को सर्वोच्च मानता है, तो उसका पतन निश्चित होता है। रावण यहाँ मारीच को यह संदेश दे रहा है कि अब और तर्क-वितर्क करना व्यर्थ है।
