परिभ्रमति चित्राणि मण्डलानि विनिष्पतन् ।
समुद्वीक्ष्य च सर्वे तम् मृगा ये अन्ये वनेचराः ॥ ॥३-४२-२८॥
Paribhramati citrāṇi maṇḍalāni viniṣpatan । Samudvīkṣya ca sarve tam mṛgā ye anye vanecarāḥ ॥ ॥3-42-28॥
Translation
He circles around in wondrous circular patterns and bounds up and down; all the other deer dwelling in the forest stare at him.

वह चित्र-विचित्र मंडलाकार (गोल-गोल) चक्कर लगाता है और उछलता-कूदता है। वन में चरने वाले अन्य सभी मृग उसे अच्छी तरह देख रहे हैं।
English Commentary
The deer performs citrāṇi maṇḍalāni (wonderful circular movements), almost like a dance meant to entrance. He is not just moving; he is performing. Viniṣpatan suggests dynamic movement, leaping or bounding. The reaction of the other forest dwellers (vanecarāḥ) is noted—they stare at him. This attention from nature serves to amplify his uniqueness. He creates a spectacle, turning the quiet forest into a stage where he is the sole protagonist, demanding the attention of every eye, human and animal alike.

मारीच अपने नृत्य-कौशल का प्रदर्शन करता है। 'चित्राणि मण्डलानि' (विचित्र या अद्भुत गोलाकार चाल) का अर्थ है कि वह साधारण दौड़ नहीं लगा रहा, बल्कि कलात्मक रूप से घूम रहा है। यह किसी मायावी सम्मोहन जैसा है। 'विनिष्पतन्' का अर्थ है बार-बार ऊपर उछलना या गिरना। वन के अन्य जीव ('वनेचराः') उसे आश्चर्य से देख रहे हैं ('समुद्वीक्ष्य')। यह दृश्य ऐसा है मानो वन में कोई राजा आया हो और प्रजा उसे देख रही हो। मारीच ने पूरे वातावरण को अपने वश में कर लिया है।
