नाना वर्ण विचित्र अंगो रत्न भूतो मम अग्रतः ।
द्योतयन् वनम् अव्यग्रम् शोभते शशि संनिभः ॥ ॥३-४३-१४॥
Nānā varṇa vicitra aṅgo ratna bhūto mama agrataḥ । Dyotayan vanam avygram śobhate śaśi saṃnibhaḥ ॥ ॥3-43-14॥
Translation
His limbs variegated with various colors, standing like a gem before me, illuminating the undisturbed forest, he shines like the moon.

अनेक रंगों से सुशोभित अंग वाला, मेरे सामने एक रत्न के समान खड़ा होकर, वह शांत वन को प्रकाशित करता हुआ चंद्रमा के समान शोभित हो रहा है।
English Commentary
Sita uses heightened poetic language to describe the deer. She calls it ratna bhūto (appearing as a gem) and notes that it is dyotayan vanam (illuminating the forest), confirming the unnatural glow Lakshmana had pointed out. The comparison śaśi saṃnibhaḥ (moon-like) adds a layer of soft, romantic allure, contrasting with the harsh reality of the sun-like (bhānumat) brilliance mentioned by Lakshmana, thereby making the deception more palatable.
