निहतस्य अस्य सत्त्वस्य जांबूनदमय त्वचि ।
शष्प बृस्याम् विनीतायाम् इच्छामि अहम् उपासितुम् ॥३-४३-२०॥
nihatasya asya sattvasya jāṃbūnadamaya tvaci |
śaṣpa bṛsyām vinītāyām icchāmi aham upāsitum ॥3-43-20॥
Translation
Once this creature is slain, I wish to sit upon its golden skin spread over a seat of tender grass.

इस प्राणी के मारे जाने पर, कोमल घास के आसन पर बिछाई गई इसकी सुवर्णमयी त्वचा पर मैं बैठना चाहती हूँ।
English Commentary
Here, Sita expresses the specific desire that has taken root in her mind upon beholding the illusory deer. Although Sita is naturally compassionate and non-violent, the influence of the Maya (illusion) is so potent that she visualizes using the deer's skin as a seat. The term 'shashpa brusyaam' refers to a cushion made of tender grass. She suggests to Lord Rama that if the deer cannot be captured alive, its golden hide, once slain, would serve as an exquisite seat during their forest exile. This verse illustrates how extraordinary beauty can incite desire and a wish for possession, setting the trajectory for the tragic events to follow.

यहाँ माता सीता अपने मन की अभिलाषा व्यक्त कर रही हैं जो उस मायावी मृग को देखकर उनके मन में उत्पन्न हुई है। यद्यपि सीताजी स्वभाव से अहिंसक और दयालु हैं, फिर भी माया का प्रभाव इतना प्रबल है कि वे उस मृग की त्वचा को एक आसन के रूप में उपयोग करने की कल्पना कर रही हैं। 'शष्प बृस्याम्' शब्द का अर्थ है कोमल घास का आसन। सीताजी श्रीराम से कह रही हैं कि यदि यह मृग जीवित नहीं पकड़ा जा सकता, तो इसके वध के पश्चात इसकी स्वर्णमयी त्वचा (चर्म) का उपयोग वे वनवास के दौरान अपने आसन के लिए करना चाहती हैं। यह श्लोक दर्शाता है कि कैसे अद्भुत सौंदर्य किसी के भी मन में मोह और स्वामित्व की भावना जगा सकता है, जिससे भविष्य की घटनाओं की नींव पड़ती है।
