मारीचस्य एव हृदयम् विभेद अशनि संनिभः ।
ताल मात्रम् अथ उत्प्लुत्य न्यपतत् स भृश आतुरः ॥३-४४-१६॥
Mārīcasya eva hṛdayam vibheda aśani saṃnibhaḥ |
Tāla mātram atha utplutya nyapatat sa bhṛśa āturaḥ ॥3-44-16॥
Translation
Resembling a thunderbolt, the arrow split Maricha's heart. He leapt up to the height of a palm tree and then fell down, in extreme agony.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वज्र के समान उस बाण ने मारीच के हृदय को विदीर्ण कर दिया। तब वह (मारीच) ताड़ के वृक्ष जितनी ऊँचाई तक उछला और अत्यंत व्याकुल होकर धरती पर गिर पड़ा।
English Commentary
The final blow is delivered with the force of a thunderbolt (aśani saṃnibhaḥ), piercing Maricha's heart. The text explicitly names Maricha here, signaling the end of the deer persona. The violence of the impact causes him to leap vertically to the height of a palm tree (tāla mātram), a detail that emphasizes both the power of the arrow and the dramatic exit of the demon. He falls bhṛśa āturaḥ (extremely distressed/in agony). This moment captures the transition from the graceful, elusive movements of the golden deer to the heavy, painful fall of the dying demon. The illusion is shattered, and the reality of the slain Rakshasa is about to be revealed.

बाण का प्रभाव वज्र ('अशनि संनिभः') जैसा था, जिसने सीधे मारीच के हृदय को भेद दिया। यहाँ 'मारीचस्य' नाम का स्पष्ट उल्लेख है, जो बताता है कि अब मृग का रूप गौण हो गया है और राक्षस का सत्य सामने आ रहा है। प्राण निकलते समय की पीड़ा और वेग के कारण वह 'ताल मात्रम्' (ताड़ के पेड़ की ऊँचाई तक) उछला। यह उछाल उसके विशालकाय राक्षस शरीर के प्रकट होने का पूर्व संकेत भी हो सकता है। अंततः वह 'भृश आतुरः' (अत्यंत पीड़ित/व्याकुल) होकर गिर पड़ा। इस श्लोक में माया के अंत और राक्षस के पतन का नाटकीय वर्णन है। श्रीराम के एक ही बाण ने उस छलावे का अंत कर दिया जिसने उन्हें आश्रम से इतना दूर कर दिया था।
