Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
रामो रुधिर सिक्त अंगम् चेष्टमानम् महीतले ।
जगाम मनसा सीताम् लक्ष्मणस्य वचः स्मरन् ॥ ॥३-४४-२२॥
rāmo rudhira sikta aṅgam ceṣṭamānam mahītale । jagāma manasā sītām lakṣmaṇasya vacaḥ smaran ॥ ॥3-44-22॥
Translation
Rama saw him writhing on the ground, his limbs soaked in blood; remembering Lakshmana's words, his mind travelled to Sita.

राम ने खून से लथपथ अंगों वाले और पृथ्वी पर छटपटाते हुए उस (राक्षस) को देखा, और लक्ष्मण के वचनों को याद करते हुए मन ही मन सीता के पास पहुँच गए।
English Commentary
This verse connects the physical victory with psychological distress. Rama observes the gruesome reality—the demon rudhira sikta aṅgam (limbs drenched in blood) and ceṣṭamānam (writhing/struggling). However, the sight triggers memory rather than triumph. Lakṣmaṇasya vacaḥ smaran (remembering Lakshmana's words) indicates Rama’s realization that his younger brother was right all along. This validation of Lakshmana’s foresight brings immediate anxiety. The phrase jagāma manasā sītām (he went to Sita with his mind) is poetic and profound; physically distant, his consciousness projects instantly to the hermitage. It marks the moment Rama realizes the hunt was a diversion, and his priority shifts violently from possessing the deer to protecting his wife.

यहाँ राम की मानसिक स्थिति का मार्मिक चित्रण है। सामने 'रुधिर सिक्त अंगम्' (रक्त रंजित अंगों वाला) राक्षस तड़प रहा है, लेकिन राम का ध्यान तुरंत अपने भाई और पत्नी की ओर जाता है। 'लक्ष्मणस्य वचः स्मरन्'—राम को लक्ष्मण की चेतावनी याद आती है कि "यह मारीच है, मृग नहीं।" राम अपनी भूल स्वीकार करते हैं कि उन्होंने लक्ष्मण की बुद्धिमत्ता की अनदेखी की। 'जगाम मनसा सीताम्' (मन से सीता के पास चले गए)—यद्यपि शरीर से वे दूर थे, उनका मन और चिंता तुरंत सीता के पास पहुँच गई। यह एक रक्षक की स्वाभाविक प्रतिक्रिया है। राक्षस को देखते ही उन्हें आगामी खतरे का आभास हो गया, और उनकी विजय की भावना तुरंत चिंता में बदल गई।
