अब्रवीत् परुषम् वाक्यम् लक्ष्मणम् सत्य वादिनम् ।
अनार्य करुणारंभ नृशंस कुल पांसन ॥३-४५-२१॥
Abravīt paruṣam vākyam lakṣmaṇam satya vādinam । Anārya karuṇārambha nṛśaṃsa kula pāṃsana ॥3-45-21॥
Translation
She spoke harsh words to the truth-speaking Lakshmana: "O Un-Arya (ignoble one)! O one devoid of compassion! O cruel one! O disgracer of your lineage!"

उन्होंने सत्यवादी लक्ष्मण से कठोर वचन कहे: "हे अनार्य! हे दया-रहित (या कपटी दया दिखाने वाले)! हे नृशंस (क्रूर)! हे अपने कुल पर कलंक लगाने वाले!"
English Commentary
This verse contains stinging insults directed at the flawless Lakshmana. The narrator ironically describes Lakshmana as "Satya vadinam" (speaker of truth) right before Sita unleashes her verbal assault. She calls him "Anarya" (ignoble), attacking his character, and "Kula pamsana" (disgrace to the lineage), attacking his heritage. The term "Karunarambha" is complex; it suggests someone who feigns compassion but acts cruelly, or one who is completely merciless. Sita accuses him of being "Nrishamsa" (cruel) for not rushing to save his brother. These words are shockingly out of character for Sita, illustrating the overwhelming power of the illusion and the inevitable force of destiny driving the separation.
