English Commentary
This verse serves as a transition, concluding Sita's tirade and setting the stage for Lakshmana's reaction. Sita reiterates her absolute dependence on Rama. The narrator describes her words as "romaharshanam" (causing horripilation or making one's hair stand on end). In this context, it signifies the sheer horror and shock felt by Lakshmana. Hearing such vile accusations and death threats from someone he worships as a mother figure is physically traumatic for him. It underscores that Sita’s words were not just angry, but devastatingly sharp, piercing the very core of Lakshmana's moral existence.

यह श्लोक सीता के वक्तव्य का समापन और लक्ष्मण की प्रतिक्रिया की भूमिका है। सीता अंतिम बार दोहराती हैं कि राम ही उनका जीवन हैं। वाल्मीकि जी यहाँ सीता के वचनों को 'रोमहर्षणम्' कहते हैं, जिसका अर्थ है 'रोंगटे खड़े कर देने वाला'। यह शब्द सामान्यतः भय या अद्भुत रस के लिए प्रयुक्त होता है, लेकिन यहाँ यह उस भयानक आरोप और स्थिति की गंभीरता को दर्शाता है। एक माता तुल्य भाभी द्वारा पुत्रवत देवर पर ऐसे लांछन लगाना और आत्महत्या की धमकी देना, यह सुनकर लक्ष्मण के रोंगटे खड़े हो गए। यह शब्द लक्ष्मण के गहरे मानसिक आघात (shock) और भय को व्यक्त करता है।
