लक्ष्मणेन एवम् उक्ता तु रुदती जनकाअत्मजा ।
प्रत्युवाच ततो वाक्यम् तीव्रम् बाष्प परिप्लुता ॥३-४५-३५॥
Lakṣmaṇena evam uktā tu rudatī janakāatmajā । Pratyuvāca tato vākyam tīvram bāṣpa pariplutā ॥3-45-35॥
Translation
Being addressed thus by Lakshmana, the daughter of Janaka, weeping and drenched in tears, spoke these intense words to him.

लक्ष्मण के द्वारा ऐसा कहे जाने पर, जनकनंदिनी सीता रोती हुई (रुदती), आँसुओं में डूबी हुई (बाष्प परिप्लुता), उनसे तीव्र (कठोर/निश्चयात्मक) वचन बोलीं।
English Commentary
Even as Lakshmana prepares to leave, the emotional intensity does not subside. Sita is described as weeping ("rudati") and overwhelmed by tears ("bashpa paripluta"). She responds with "tivram" (sharp/intense) words. This suggests that Lakshmana's warnings about bad omens and his reluctance to leave have not reassured her; instead, they may have heightened her hysteria. She feels compelled to reiterate her threat of suicide to ensure he actually leaves to save Rama. The image of Sita drenched in tears portrays her vulnerability and the extreme psychological pressure she is under.

लक्ष्मण के जाने की तैयारी और उनके द्वारा कहे गए 'अपशकुन' की बातों से सीता का भय और भी बढ़ गया है, या शायद वे अपने निर्णय को सही ठहराने के लिए और अधिक भावुक हो गई हैं। वे 'रुदती' (रोती हुई) और 'बाष्प परिप्लुता' (आँसुओं से सराबोर) हैं। यहाँ 'तीव्रम्' वाक्य का अर्थ है कि वे अभी भी अपनी बात पर अड़ी हुई हैं और मृत्यु का संकल्प दोहरा रही हैं। सीता की यह दशा दिखाती है कि वे पूरी तरह से मानसिक तनाव और अवसाद (distress) की स्थिति में हैं। लक्ष्मण की चेतावनी ने उन्हें शांत करने के बजाय और अधिक उत्तेजित कर दिया है।
