तया परुषम् उक्तः तु कुपितो राघव अनुजः ।
स विकांक्षन् भृशम् रामम् प्रतस्थे न चिरात् इव ॥३-४६-१॥
Tayā paruṣam uktaḥ tu kupito rāghava anujaḥ । Sa vikāṃkṣan bhṛśam rāmam pratasthe na cirāt iva ॥3-46-1॥
Translation
Being spoken to harshly by her, Raghava's younger brother was indeed angry. Desiring greatly to see Rama, he set out without delay.

उनके (सीता के) द्वारा कठोर वचन कहे जाने पर राघव के अनुज (लक्ष्मण) कुपित (क्रुद्ध/क्षुब्ध) हो गए थे। राम को देखने की तीव्र इच्छा (विकांक्षन्) रखते हुए वे शीघ्रता से प्रस्थान कर गए।
English Commentary
Following the emotionally draining exchange, Lakshmana acts swiftly. The text acknowledges his anger ('kupito') resulting from the harsh insults ('parusham uktah'). However, his focus shifts immediately to the mission: finding Rama. The phrase 'vikankshan bhrisham' (greatly desiring/anxious to see) indicates his priority now is to verify Rama's safety and perhaps report Sita's behavior. He leaves 'na chirat' (without delay). This swift departure is crucial for the plot, as it creates the window of opportunity for Ravana. Lakshmana's speed is driven by the need to resolve the uncertainty about Rama's voice that started this whole tragedy.
