अयाचत अर्थैः अन्वर्थैः न च यांचाम् चकार सा ।
मम भर्ता महातेजा वयसा पंच विंशकः ॥३-४७-१०॥
Ayācata arthaiḥ anvarthaiḥ na ca yāṃcām cakāra sā । Mama bhartā mahātejā vayasā paṃca viṃśakaḥ ॥3-47-10॥
Translation
She (Kaikeyi) demanded fulfillments that were meaningful (to her purpose), she did not beg for mere material wealth. At that time, my husband, possessing great radiance, was twenty-five years of age.

उस (कैकेयी) ने जो वर मांगे वे (उसके लिए) सार्थक थे, उसने (धन आदि की) याचना नहीं की (अपितु वर के रूप में वनवास माँगा)। उस समय मेरे महातेजस्वी पति की आयु पच्चीस वर्ष की थी।
English Commentary
This verse contains two distinct but significant pieces of information. In the first half, Sita clarifies the nature of Kaikeyi's demand. By stating she did not "beg" (yāṃcām cakāra), Sita implies that Kaikeyi demanded her rights based on previously granted boons. The requests were "arthaiḥ anvarthaiḥ"—meaningful and specific to her objective of securing the kingdom for Bharata and removing Rama. It wasn't a petty request for wealth, but a calculated political move.

इस श्लोक के दो महत्वपूर्ण भाग हैं। पूर्वार्ध में सीता जी कैकेयी की माँग की प्रकृति का वर्णन करती हैं। 'न च यांचाम् चकार सा' का अर्थ है कि कैकेयी ने धन-दौलत या आभूषणों की भीख नहीं मांगी, बल्कि उन्होंने 'अर्थैः अन्वर्थैः'—अर्थात् अपने स्वार्थ को सिद्ध करने वाले ठोस वरदान (राम का वनवास और भरत का राज्य) मांगे। यह दर्शाता है कि कैकेयी का लक्ष्य भौतिक सुख नहीं, बल्कि सत्ता का हस्तांतरण और राम को दूर करना था।
