Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
वने प्रव्रज काकुत्स्थ पितरम् मोचय अनृतात् ।
तथा इति उवाच ताम् रामः कैकेयीम् अकुतो भयः ॥३-४७-१६॥
Vane pravraja kākutstha pitaram mocaya anṛtāt । Tathā iti uvāca tām rāmaḥ kaikeyīm akuto bhayaḥ ॥3-47-16॥
Translation
(Kaikeyi said): "O Descendant of Kakutstha, go forth to the forest and save your father from falsehood." Then Rama, who is free from fear, said "So be it" (Tatha) to Kaikeyi.
हिंदी अनुवाद
(कैकेयी ने कहा): "हे काकुत्स्थ! तुम वन चले जाओ और अपने पिता को असत्य (वचन-भंग) से बचा लो।" तब निर्भीक राम ने उस कैकेयी से "तथा" (ऐसा ही हो) कहा।
English Commentary
This verse juxtaposes Kaikeyi's manipulative command with Rama's sublime acceptance. Kaikeyi invokes the lineage ("Kākutstha") and frames the exile not as a punishment, but as a duty to "save the father from falsehood" (anṛtāt). This was the masterstroke; she knew Rama would suffer anything to preserve his father's integrity (Satya).

यह श्लोक राम के चरित्र की महानता का शिखर है। कैकेयी ने राम को 'काकुत्स्थ' कहकर उनके पूर्वज ककुत्स्थ का स्मरण कराया, ताकि वे कुल की लाज रखने के लिए बाध्य हों। उन्होंने 'पितरम् मोचय अनृतात्' (पिता को झूठ से बचाओ) कहकर राम पर एक नैतिक दायित्व डाल दिया।
