लंका नाम समुद्रस्य मध्ये मम महापुरी ।
सागरेण परिक्षिप्ता निविष्टा गिरि मूर्धनि ॥३-४७-२९॥
Laṃkā nāma samudrasya madhye mama mahāpurī । Sāgareṇa parikṣiptā niviṣṭā giri mūrdhani ॥3-47-29॥
Translation
"My great city named Lanka is situated in the middle of the ocean, surrounded by the sea, and seated on the peak of a mountain."

"समुद्र के बीच में, पर्वत के शिखर (त्रिकुट) पर बसी हुई मेरी 'लंका' नाम की महान नगरी है, जो चारों ओर से सागर से घिरी हुई है।"
English Commentary
Ravana pivots to showcasing his assets. He describes Lanka to entice Sita with safety and luxury. The geography is specific: 'samudrasya madhye' (in the middle of the ocean) and 'giri mūrdhani' (on a mountain peak). This description highlights Lanka as an impregnable fortress, a paradise isolated from the rest of the world. By emphasizing the ocean barrier ('sāgareṇa parikṣiptā'), he subtly implies that once she is there, she will be beyond the reach of any rescuer, especially a foot-soldier like Rama. It is a pitch of both luxury and inevitability—Lanka is beautiful, and Lanka is unreachable.

सीता को वन के कष्टों से मुक्ति का लालच देने के लिए रावण अपने वैभवशाली नगर लंका का वर्णन करता है। वह उसकी अभेद्यता (security) और सुंदरता बताता है। 'समुद्रस्य मध्ये' (समुद्र के बीच) और 'सागरेण परिक्षिप्ता' (सागर से घिरी हुई)—यह दर्शाता है कि लंका सुरक्षित है, जहाँ कोई शत्रु (राम जैसा तपस्वी) आसानी से नहीं पहुँच सकता। 'गिरि मूर्धनि' (पर्वत के शिखर पर)—लंका त्रिकुट पर्वत पर स्थित थी। रावण सीता को एक ऐसे जीवन का स्वप्न दिखा रहा है जो वन के कीचड़ और काटों से दूर, स्वर्ण और समुद्र के बीच है। वह अपनी संपत्ति (Real Estate) का प्रदर्शन करके सीता का मन बदलने का प्रयास कर रहा है।
