पंच दास्यः सहस्राणि सर्व आभरण भूषिताः ।
सीते परिचरिष्यन्ति भार्या भवसि मे यदि ॥३-४७-३१॥
Paṃca dāsyaḥ sahasrāṇi sarva ābharaṇa bhūṣitāḥ । Sīte paricariṣyanti bhāryā bhavasi me yadi ॥3-47-31॥
Translation
"Five thousand maidservants, adorned with all kinds of ornaments, will serve you, O Sita, if you become my wife."

"हे सीते! यदि तुम मेरी पत्नी बन जाओ, तो पाँच हजार दासियाँ, जो नाना प्रकार के आभूषणों से सजी होंगी, तुम्हारी सेवा करेंगी।"
English Commentary
Ravana concludes his sales pitch with a display of sheer manpower and wealth. He offers five thousand handmaidens. The detail that even the servants are 'sarva ābharaṇa bhūṣitāḥ' (decked in all ornaments) is meant to convey the unimaginable wealth of Lanka. He targets the physical hardships Sita faces in the forest. Currently, she serves Rama; Ravana offers her thousands to serve her. The condition is explicit: 'bhāryā bhavasi me yadi' (if you become my wife). It is a transaction—her chastity in exchange for supreme comfort. This gross commodification of relationship stands in stark contrast to the spiritual union of Rama and Sita.

रावण अपना अंतिम प्रलोभन फेंकता है—दास्य और ऐश्वर्य। वह सीता को 'पंच दास्यः सहस्राणि' (पाँच हजार दासियाँ) देने का वचन देता है। और वे दासियाँ साधारण नहीं, बल्कि 'सर्व आभरण भूषिताः' (स्वयं गहनों से लदी हुई) होंगी। सोचिए, जब दासियाँ इतनी अमीर होंगी, तो रानी का वैभव कैसा होगा! रावण सीता की वर्तमान स्थिति—जहाँ उन्हें अपना सारा काम स्वयं करना पड़ता है—को निशाना बना रहा है। वह उन्हें महारानी का जीवन देना चाहता है जहाँ पैर हिलाने की भी आवश्यकता न हो। यह 'दाम' (धन) की नीति है। रावण समझता है कि हर व्यक्ति की एक कीमत होती है, लेकिन वह यह नहीं जानता कि सीता अमूल्य हैं।
