तत्र त्वम् वस हे सीते राजपुत्रि मया सह ।
न स्मरिष्यसि नारीणाम् मानुषीणाम् मनस्विनि ॥ ॥३-४८-१३॥
tatra tvam vasa he sīte rājaputri mayā saha । na smariṣyasi nārīṇām mānuṣīṇām manasvini ॥ ॥3-48-13॥
Translation
O Sita! O Princess! Live there with me. O high-minded one! Once there, you will not even remember human women (or the human condition).
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे सीते! हे राजपुत्री! तुम मेरे साथ वहाँ (लंका में) निवास करो। हे मनस्विनी! वहाँ पहुँचकर तुम मानवी स्त्रियों को (या मानवीय स्थिति को) याद भी नहीं करोगी।
English Commentary
This is the direct solicitation. Ravana asks Sita to live with him in Lanka. By addressing her as Rajaputri (Princess), he appeals to her royal heritage, implying she deserves a palace, not a hermitage. He promises that the luxury of Lanka is so overwhelming that she will forget 'human women'—implying that human life is miserable and forgettable compared to the celestial pleasures he offers. He tries to induce a dissociation in her, asking her to abandon her human identity and attachments to embrace a superior, god-like existence with him.

रावण अब अपना मुख्य प्रस्ताव रखता है। वह सीता को 'राजपुत्री' कहकर संबोधित करता है, यह याद दिलाने के लिए कि वह महलों के लिए बनी है, वन के लिए नहीं। 'मानुषीणाम्' शब्द का प्रयोग करके रावण मानवता को तुच्छ बताता है। उसका तर्क है कि लंका का दिव्य भोग ऐसा है कि उसके सामने मानवीय जीवन फीका पड़ जाएगा। वह चाहता है कि सीता अपनी 'मानवी' पहचान भूलकर 'राक्षस-राजरानी' बन जाए। 'मनस्विनी' संबोधन का प्रयोग कूटनीतिक है, वह सीता के स्वाभिमान को सहलाते हुए उसे अपने पक्ष में करना चाहता है।
