अंगुल्या न समो रामो मम युद्धे स मानुषः ।
तव भाग्येन् संप्राप्तम् भजस्व वरवर्णिनि ॥ ॥३-४८-१९॥
aṅgulyā na samo rāmo mama yuddhe sa mānuṣaḥ । tava bhāgyen saṃprāptam bhajasva varavarṇini ॥ ॥3-48-19॥
Translation
That mortal Rama is not equal even to my finger in battle. O beautiful one! Accept me, whom you have obtained by your good fortune.
हिंदी अनुवाद
युद्ध में वह मनुष्य राम मेरी एक उंगली के बराबर भी नहीं है। हे सुंदरी! अपने भाग्य से प्राप्त हुए मुझ (जैसे पति) को तुम स्वीकार करो।
English Commentary
Ravana employs extreme hyperbole to dismiss Rama's martial capabilities, claiming the latter is not even worth one of his fingers in combat. This reflects the typical arrogance of the Rakshasa king, who views humanity as an inferior species wholly incapable of standing against his cosmic power. By framing his arrival as a stroke of Sita's 'good fortune' (bhagyena), he twists the narrative of abduction into one of unsolicited grace, attempting to gaslight Sita into believing she is the beneficiary of a divine favor rather than a victim of aggression.

रावण का अहंकार यहाँ अपनी चरम सीमा पर है। वह राम की शक्ति को नगण्य सिद्ध करने के लिए 'अंगुल्या न समः' (उंगली के बराबर भी नहीं) जैसी उपमा का प्रयोग करता है। रावण के लिए मनुष्य जाति तुच्छ है, और वह यह मानने को तैयार नहीं है कि कोई मानव उसे युद्ध में चुनौती दे सकता है। वह अपने आगमन को सीता का 'भाग्य' बताता है, जो उसकी विकृत मानसिकता को दर्शाता है। वह स्वयं को एक 'पुरस्कार' के रूप में प्रस्तुत कर रहा है जिसे अस्वीकार करना मूर्खता होगी।
