त्यज्यताम् मानुषो भावो मयि भावः प्रणीयताम् ।
राज्यात् च्युतम् असिद्ध अर्थम् रामम् परिमित आयुषम् ॥ ॥३-४९-१३॥
tyajyatām mānuṣo bhāvo mayi bhāvaḥ praṇīyatām ॥ rājyāt cyutam asiddha artham rāmam parimita āyuṣam ॥ ॥3-49-13॥
Translation
Abandon your affection for a human and direct your love toward me. Rama has fallen from his kingdom, has failed in his purpose, and is of limited lifespan.
हिंदी अनुवाद
(राम के प्रति अपने) मानवी भाव (स्नेह) को त्याग दो और मुझ में प्रेम भाव रखो। राम राज्य से भ्रष्ट है, अपने उद्देश्य में असफल है और उसकी आयु भी अब सीमित है।
English Commentary
Ravana attacks Rama's status to sway Sita. He uses the term 'human' disdainfully, urging her to upgrade to a Rakshasa lord. He lists Rama's perceived failures: loss of kingdom (rājyāt cyutam) and failure to achieve his goals (asiddha artham). Most chillingly, he calls Rama parimita āyuṣam (short-lived), implying a threat that Rama will soon be killed. This is dramatic irony, as the audience knows Rama is the eternal Vishnu and Ravana is the one with limited time left. Ravana tries to break Sita's hope by painting Rama as a loser in the game of life.

रावण यहाँ राम की तीन 'कमियां' गिनाता है: राज्यहीनता, असफलता, और अल्पायु। 'मानुषो भावो' कहकर वह मानवता को तुच्छ बताता है और अपनी राक्षसी शक्ति को श्रेष्ठ। वह कहता है राम 'परिमित आयुषम्' (सीमित आयु वाला) है—यह एक भविष्यवाणी जैसा कथन है, क्योंकि रावण सोचता है कि वह राम को मार देगा, लेकिन विडंबना यह है कि राम के हाथों ही रावण की मृत्यु निश्चित है। रावण भौतिक सफलता (राज्य) को ही सब कुछ मानता है, इसलिए उसे राम 'असिद्ध अर्थम्' (असफल) लगते हैं।
