त्वम् कर्म कृतवान् एतत् काल उपहत चेतनः ।
जीवित अंतकरम् घोरम् रामात् व्यसनम् आप्नुहि ॥ ॥३-४९-२८॥
tvam karma kṛtavān etat kāla upahata cetanaḥ । jīvita antakaram ghoram rāmāt vyasanam āpnuhi ॥ ॥3-49-28॥
Translation
You have done this deed because your mind is destroyed by Time (Destiny). Now, you shall meet a terrible calamity from Rama that will end your life.
हिंदी अनुवाद
(रावण!) काल (मृत्यु) ने तुम्हारी बुद्धि को नष्ट कर दिया है, इसीलिए तुमने ऐसा कर्म किया है। अब तुम राम के हाथों अपने जीवन का अंत करने वाले घोर संकट को प्राप्त करोगे।
English Commentary
Empowered by her realization of Karma, Sita pronounces judgment on Ravana. She diagnoses his condition as kāla upahata cetanaḥ—his consciousness has been struck down by Time/Destiny. This aligns with the Indian belief that doom is preceded by the loss of judgment. She predicts a "terrible calamity" (ghoram vyasanam) at the hands of Rama. This is not just a victim's plea but a Pativrata's curse. She shifts from asking "Where is Rama?" to asserting "Rama will end you."

सीता अब एक भविष्यदृष्टा की तरह बोल रही हैं। वे कहती हैं कि रावण ने यह अपहरण अपनी इच्छा से नहीं, बल्कि 'काल उपहत चेतनः' (काल द्वारा हर ली गई बुद्धि) के कारण किया है। जब विनाश आता है, तो विवेक मर जाता है (विनाश काले विपरीत बुद्धि)। सीता स्पष्ट श्राप देती हैं कि यह कर्म रावण के 'जीवित अंतकरम्' (जीवन का अंत करने वाला) सिद्ध होगा। यह अब केवल अपहरण नहीं है, बल्कि रावण का 'डेथ वारंट' है जिसे उसने स्वयं अपने हाथों से लिखा है।
