हत्वा तु तम् भीम बलम् विराधम् राक्षसम् वने ।
ततः सीताम् परिष्वज्य समाश्वास्य च वीर्यवान् ॥ ॥३-५-१॥
hatvā tu tam bhīma balam virādham rākṣasam vane । tataḥ sītām pariṣvajya samāśvāsya ca vīryavān ॥ ॥3-5-1॥
Translation
Having killed that Rakshasa Viradha of terrible strength in the forest, the valiant Rama embraced Sita and comforted her.

वन में उस भयानक बल वाले राक्षस विराध को मारकर, पराक्रमी राम ने सीता को गले लगाया और उन्हें ढांढस बंधाया (आश्वस्त किया)।
English Commentary
Opening the 5th Sarga, the narrative shifts focus to Sita. She had been the initial victim of Viradha's aggression. Rama, characterized as vīryavān (valiant), transitions from warrior to husband. His first act after the violence is to embrace (pariṣvajya) and comfort (samāśvāsya) Sita. This highlights the trauma Sita experienced during the abduction and the loud battle. It underscores Rama's protective nature; he provides not just physical safety but emotional security to his wife in the terrifying wilderness.

यह अगले सर्ग (सर्ग ५) का पहला श्लोक है। युद्ध समाप्त होने के बाद राम का ध्यान तुरंत सीता की ओर जाता है। सीता विराध द्वारा अपहरण और युद्ध की भयंकर गर्जना से भयभीत थीं। 'परिष्वज्य' (गले लगाकर) और 'समाश्वास्य' (आश्वासन देकर) शब्द राम के मानवीय और प्रेमी रूप को दर्शाते हैं। वे केवल योद्धा नहीं, एक रक्षक पति भी हैं। सीता का भय दूर करना उनकी प्राथमिकता है। यह श्लोक राम और सीता के दांपत्य प्रेम की कोमलता को, युद्ध की कठोरता के ठीक बाद प्रस्तुत करता है।
