Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
इह राम महातेजाः सुतीक्ष्णो नाम धार्मिकः ।
वसति अरण्ये नियतम् स ते श्रेयो विधास्यति ॥ ॥३-५-३५॥
iha rāma mahātejāḥ sutīkṣṇo nāma dhārmikaḥ । vasati araṇye niyataḥ sa te śreyo vidhāsyati ॥ ॥3-5-35॥
Translation
O Rama, here in this forest dwells a righteous sage of great splendor named Sutikshna. Living a disciplined life, he will arrange for your welfare.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे राम! इसी वन में 'सुतीक्ष्ण' नाम के एक महातेजस्वी और धर्मात्मा ऋषि रहते हैं। वे नियत (संयमित) होकर रहते हैं, वे ही तुम्हारा कल्याण (श्रेय) करेंगे (तुम्हें रहने का स्थान बताएंगे)।
English Commentary
Preparing for his own departure, Sarabhanga delegates the responsibility of guiding Rama to another ascetic, Sage Sutikshna. He describes Sutikshna as mahatejah (of great splendor) and dharmikah (righteous), assuring Rama that he is a worthy mentor. The phrase niyatah (disciplined/self-controlled) highlights the sage's ascetic rigor. Sarabhanga promises that Sutikshna will orchestrate Rama's shreyas (welfare/highest good). This continues the chain of guidance where one sage directs the Avatar to the next, creating a network of support for Rama's mission in the hostile wilderness.

शरभंग मुनि राम को सुतीक्ष्ण ऋषि के पास जाने का निर्देश देते हैं। 'सुतीक्ष्ण' का शाब्दिक अर्थ है 'अत्यंत तीक्ष्ण' (संभवतः उनकी बुद्धि या तप की तीव्रता के संदर्भ में)। शरभंग जानते हैं कि वे स्वयं तो शरीर त्यागने वाले हैं, इसलिए वे राम के लिए एक नए संरक्षक और मार्गदर्शक की नियुक्ति करते हैं। 'स ते श्रेयो विधास्यति'—वह तुम्हारा श्रेय (कल्याण) करेंगे। यहाँ 'श्रेय' का अर्थ केवल आवास नहीं, बल्कि आध्यात्मिक मार्गदर्शन और वन में राक्षसों के विरुद्ध अभियान में दिशा-निर्देश भी है। सुतीक्ष्ण मुनि दण्डकारण्य के भूगोल और चुनौतियों से भली-भांति परिचित हैं।
