Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
स लोकान् आहिताग्नीनाम् ऋषीणाम् च महात्मनाम् ।
देवानाम् च व्यतिक्रम्य ब्रह्म लोकम् व्यरोहत ॥ ॥३-५-४२॥
sa lokān āhitāgnīnām ṛṣīṇām ca mahātmanām । devānām ca vyatikramya brahma lokam vyarohat ॥ ॥3-5-42॥
Translation
He (Sharabhanga) transcended the realms of the great sages who maintain the sacred fires and the worlds of the Devas, ascending directly to the realm of Brahma.
हिंदी अनुवाद
मुने शरभंग ने अग्न्याधान करने वाले (अग्निहोत्री) महात्मा ऋषियों और देवताओं के लोकों को पार करके, सीधे ब्रह्मलोक में आरोहण किया।
English Commentary
This verse marks the culmination of Maharishi Sharabhanga’s spiritual journey. Typically, rituals and sacrifices lead one to the heavens (Svarga) or specific realms of sages, where a soul resides until their merit is exhausted. However, Sharabhanga’s penance was so intense and detached that he did not stop at these intermediate realms reserved for Agnihotris (fire-worshippers) or Devas.

महर्षि शरभंग की आध्यात्मिक यात्रा की यह चरम परिणति है। सामान्यतः पुण्यकर्मों और यज्ञानुष्ठान से स्वर्ग या विशिष्ट ऋषि-लोकों की प्राप्ति होती है, जहाँ जीव अपने पुण्य क्षीण होने तक निवास करता है। किन्तु, शरभंग की तपस्या इतनी उग्र और निष्काम थी कि वे उन मध्यवर्ती लोकों (आहिताग्नि और देव लोकों) में नहीं रुके। 'व्यतिक्रम्य' शब्द यहाँ अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण है।
