Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
विभ्राजमानम् वपुषा सूर्य वैश्वानर प्रभम् ।
रथ प्रवरम् आरूढम् आकाशे विबुध अनुगम् ॥ ॥३-५-५॥
vibhrājamānam vapuṣā sūrya vaiśvānara prabham |
ratha pravaram ārūḍham ākāśe vibudha anugam ॥3-5-5॥
Translation
He saw a being shining with a body radiant like the Sun and Fire, mounted on an excellent chariot in the sky, followed by other celestials.

उन्होंने आकाश में एक श्रेष्ठ रथ पर आरूढ़, सूर्य और अग्नि के समान देदीप्यमान शरीर वाले देवता को देखा, जिनका अनुगमन अन्य देवता कर रहे थे।
English Commentary
This verse describes the celestial visitor (Indra, though yet unnamed) using solar and igneous imagery ('Surya' and 'Vaishvanara'). The radiance signifies divine potency and purity. Being mounted on a chariot in the sky distinguishes the figure from earthly beings. The description emphasizes the separation between the terrestrial realm of the suffering ascetics and the celestial realm of the visitor, bridging the two worlds visually.

यहाँ देवराज इन्द्र के स्वरूप का वर्णन है, यद्यपि नाम अभी नहीं लिया गया। 'सूर्य वैश्वानर प्रभम्' (सूर्य और अग्नि जैसी प्रभा) उनकी दिव्यता और तेज का प्रतीक है। आकाश में रथ पर आरूढ़ होना उन्हें पृथ्वी के साधारण प्राणियों से अलग करता है। यह श्लोक उस 'अद्भुत' दृश्य का विस्तार है जिसका संकेत पिछले श्लोक में दिया गया था। वन की शांत पृष्ठभूमि में यह तेज एक दिव्य हस्तक्षेप का संकेत है।
