न हि मे जीवमानस्य नयिष्यसि शुभाम् इमाम् ।
सीताम् कमल पत्र अक्षीम् रामस्य महषीम् प्रियाम् ॥३-५०-२६॥
na hi me jīvamānasya nayiṣyasi śubhām imām |
sītām kamala patra akṣīm rāmasya mahaṣīm priyām ॥3-50-26॥
Translation
Indeed, while I am alive, you shall not carry away this auspicious Sita, the lotus-eyed Queen and beloved wife of Rama.
हिंदी अनुवाद
मेरे जीवित रहते तुम श्रीराम की प्रिय पटरानी, कमल के समान नेत्रों वाली इस कल्याणमयी सीता को नहीं ले जा सकोगे।
English Commentary
This verse constitutes Jatayu's solemn vow and battle cry. It is the line drawn in the sand. He declares that as long as life remains in his body ('me jīvamānasya'), the abduction cannot succeed. The epithets used for Sita—'kamala patra akṣīm' (lotus-eyed), 'mahaṣīm' (Great Queen)—underscore her nobility and the magnitude of the crime being committed. It emphasizes that Jatayu recognizes her not just as a woman in distress, but as the Queen worthy of supreme protection. This statement marks the transition from dialogue to physical combat, showcasing the bird's unwavering loyalty to Dasharatha's lineage.

यह जटायु की अंतिम प्रतिज्ञा है। वे अपने प्राणों का मोह त्यागकर सीता की रक्षा का संकल्प लेते हैं। सीता के लिए प्रयुक्त विशेषण - 'शुभाम्' (कल्याणमयी), 'कमल पत्र अक्षीम्' (कमल नयन वाली), 'रामस्य महषीम्' (राम की पटरानी) - सीता की दिव्यता, सुंदरता और राजसी पद को दर्शाते हैं। जटायु कहते हैं कि उनके शरीर में जब तक प्राण हैं, रावण सीता को स्पर्श नहीं कर सकता। यह एक भक्त और रक्षक का सर्वोच्च बलिदान (Supreme Sacrifice) के लिए तैयार होने का उद्घोष है। यहाँ से युद्ध का आरम्भ अवश्यंभावी हो जाता है।
