सारथेः च अस्य वेगेन तुण्डेन च महत् शिरः ।
पुनः व्यपाहरत् श्रीमान् पक्षिराजो महाबलः ॥३-५१-१८॥

punaḥ vyapāharat śrīmān pakṣirājo mahābalaḥ ॥3-51-18॥
Translation
The glorious and mighty King of Birds, with great speed, tore off the charioteer's huge head with his beak.

महाबली और श्रीमान पक्षीराज ने वेगपूर्वक अपनी चोंच से उसके सारथी का विशाल सिर भी पुनः काट (उखाड़) लिया।
English Commentary
The final step in immobilizing Ravana is the elimination of the charioteer. Jatayu executes this with brutal efficiency, using his beak to decapitate the driver. The text describes the head as 'mahat' (huge), implying the charioteer was a demon of significant size, yet Jatayu tore it off with speed ('vegena'). This completes the isolation of Ravana: no bow, no armor, no chariot, no animals, no servants, and no driver. Jatayu stands (or flies) as the 'Shriman' (glorious one), having single-handedly dismantled the entire war machine of the world's most feared tyrant.

रथ को पूरी तरह बेकार करने के लिए सारथी का वध आवश्यक था। जटayu ने अपनी चोंच ('तुण्डेन') का प्रयोग एक घातक हथियार की तरह किया और सारथी का सिर धड़ से अलग कर दिया। 'पुनः' (फिर) शब्द बताता है कि जटayu एक के बाद एक लगातार प्रहार कर रहे हैं। यहाँ जटayu को 'श्रीमान्' (शोभा संपन्न) कहा गया है, क्योंकि अधर्म का नाश करते हुए वे अत्यंत सुशोभित हो रहे हैं। यह एक वृद्ध पक्षी का उग्र रूप है जो अपने स्वामी के कार्य के लिए संहारक बन गया है।
