युध्यस्व यदि शूरो असि मुहूर्तम् तिष्ठ रावण ।
शयिष्यसे हतो भूमौ यथा भ्राता खरः तथा ॥ ॥३-५१-३०॥
Yudhyasva yadi śūro asi muhūrtam tiṣṭha rāvaṇa । Śayiṣyase hato bhūmau yathā bhrātā kharaḥ tathā ॥ ॥3-51-30॥
Translation
Fight if you are a hero! Stay for just a moment, O Ravana. You shall lie slain on the ground just like your brother Khara.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे रावण! यदि तुम शूरवीर हो तो युद्ध करो और दो घड़ी ठहरो। तुम भी (राम के हाथों) मारे जाकर पृथ्वी पर वैसे ही सोओगे जैसे तुम्हारा भाई खर सोया था।
English Commentary
This is a direct challenge to combat. Jatayu dares Ravana to stand and fight (yudhyasva) instead of fleeing with his prey. The reference to Khara is strategically chosen to instill fear. Khara was a powerful demon stationed in Janasthana who was single-handedly killed by Rama shortly before this event. By invoking Khara's death, Jatayu reminds Ravana of Rama's proven lethal capability. The imagery of "lying on the ground" (shayishyase bhumau) contrasts the royal comfort Ravana is used to with the grim reality of a warrior's death in the dust. It acts as a taunt: "You claim to be brave, yet you run; stay, and you will meet the same fate as your brother."

जटayu रावण को सीधे युद्ध के लिए ललकारते हैं। "मुहूर्तम् तिष्ठ" (एक क्षण रुको) कहकर वे रावण के भागने की प्रवृत्ति पर कटाक्ष करते हैं। जटayu उसे स्मरण दिलाते हैं कि जनस्थान में राम ने अकेले ही 14,000 राक्षसों और रावण के भाई खर का वध किया था। खर का उदाहरण देकर जटayu रावण को यह चेतावनी देते हैं कि उसका हश्र भी वैसा ही होगा। यह रावण के लिए एक मनोवैज्ञानिक प्रहार था, क्योंकि खर रावण का एक शक्तिशाली सेनापति और भाई था। जटayu यह संकेत दे रहे हैं कि यदि राम खर को मार सकते हैं, तो रावण का वध करना भी उनके लिए असंभव नहीं है। यह श्लोक जटayu के आत्मविश्वास और राम के प्रति उनके विश्वास को दर्शाता है।
