अथ क्रोधात् दशग्रीवः जग्राह दश मार्गणान् ।
मृत्यु दण्ड निभान् घोरान् शत्रोर् निधन कान्क्षया ॥३-५१-७॥
atha krodhāt daśagrīvaḥ jagrāha daśa mārgaṇān |
mṛtyu daṇḍa nibhān ghorān śatror nidhana kānkṣayā ॥3-51-7॥
Translation
Then, in anger, wishing for the death of his enemy, the Ten-necked One seized ten terrible arrows that resembled the staff of Death.

तब क्रोधित होकर दशग्रीव (रावण) ने शत्रु (जटायु) के वध की इच्छा से यमराज के दंड के समान भयंकर दस बाण हाथ में लिए।
English Commentary
Ravana, stung by the injuries and the humiliation, escalates the violence. Driven by 'krodha' (anger) and a specific intent to kill ('nidhana kānkṣayā'), he selects ten specific arrows. The comparison of these arrows to 'Mrityu Danda' (the Rod of Death/Yama) signifies their lethal potential; they are finishers. This moment marks a transition from general combat to a focused execution attempt. The specific number 'ten' might symbolically align with his ten heads or simply represent an overwhelming volley intended to ensure the bird's demise.

जटायु के प्रहार से आहत रावण का क्रोध भड़क उठता है। वह अब खेल खत्म करने के मूड में है। 'शत्रोर् निधन कान्क्षया' (शत्रु के वध की इच्छा से) स्पष्ट करता है कि अब वह जटayu को मार डालना चाहता है, केवल घायल करना नहीं। वह 'दस बाण' उठाता है—शायद अपने दस सिरों या भुजाओं के अनुरूप, या पूर्ण विनाश के लिए। इन बाणों की तुलना 'मृत्यु दण्ड' (यमराज के डंडे) से की गई है, जो यह बताता है कि ये बाण अमोघ और प्राणघातक थे। स्थिति अब अत्यंत गंभीर हो गई है।
