स राक्षस रथे पश्यन् जानकीम् बाष्प लोचनाम् ।
अचिंतयित्वा बाणाम् तान् राक्षसम् समभिद्रवत् ॥३-५१-९॥
sa rākṣasa rathe paśyan jānakīm bāṣpa locanām |
acintayitvā bāṇām tān rākṣasam samabhidravat ॥3-51-9॥
Translation
Seeing Janaki (Sita) in the demon's chariot with tear-filled eyes, he (Jatayu) disregarded those arrows and rushed at the demon.
हिंदी अनुवाद
राक्षस (रावण) के रथ में बैठी हुईं आँसू भरे नेत्रों वाली जानकी (सीता) को देखकर, उस (जटायु) ने उन बाणों (की पीड़ा) की परवाह न करते हुए राक्षस रावण पर पुनः आक्रमण किया।
English Commentary
A deeply emotional and heroic moment. Jatayu, despite being impaled by Ravana's arrows, draws fresh motivation from the sight of Sita's distress. Seeing her 'bāṣpa locanām' (tear-filled eyes) reignites his resolve. The key term is 'acintayitvā' (disregarding/not thinking of) the arrows; he transcends physical pain through sheer willpower. Instead of retreating to tend to his wounds, he launches another assault. This demonstrates that his fight is driven not by anger alone, but by profound compassion and a protective instinct for the daughter of Janaka.

यह श्लोक जटायु के बलिदान की पराकाष्ठा है। शरीर में बाण लगे होने के बावजूद, जब उनकी दृष्टि 'बाष्प लोचनाम्' (रोती हुई) सीता पर पड़ती है, तो उनकी पीड़ा गौण हो जाती है। 'अचिंतयित्वा' (चिंता न करके/अनदेखा करके) शब्द उनके अदम्य साहस को दिखाता है। वे अपने घावों को भूल जाते हैं क्योंकि उनका कर्तव्य और सीता का दुःख उनके लिए अधिक महत्वपूर्ण है। वे एक घायल शेर की भांति पुनः रावण पर झपटते हैं ('समभिद्रवत्')। यह प्रेम और कर्तव्य की शक्ति है जो शारीरिक सीमाओं को लांघ जाती है।
