तस्याः परम कल्याण्याः ताम्राणि सुरभीणि च ।
पद्म पत्राणि वैदेह्या अभ्यकीर्यन्त रावणम् - यद्वा -- च्युतानि पद्म पत्राणि रावणम् समावाकिरन् - ॥ ॥३-५२-१६॥
tasyāḥ parama kalyāṇyāḥ tāmrāṇi surabhīṇi ca । padma patrāṇi vaidehyā abhyakīryanta rāvaṇam... ॥3-52-16॥
Translation
Fragrant, copper-colored lotus petals fell from the highly auspicious Vaidehi (from the garlands she wore) and showered upon Ravana.

उन परम कल्याणी वैदेही के शरीर से (माला से) तांबे के रंग वाले सुगन्धित कमल के पत्ते टूटकर रावण के ऊपर बिखरने लगे।
English Commentary
The verse uses the epithet 'Parama Kalyani' (supremely auspicious one) for Sita, highlighting her innate grace. As she struggles, petals from the lotus garlands she is wearing fall onto Ravana. There is a poetic juxtaposition here: Ravana is committing a heinous act, yet he is being showered with fragrant ('surabhini') and beautiful copper-colored ('tamrani') lotus petals from Sita. It can be interpreted symbolically—Sita is so full of grace that even in her struggle, she inadvertently bestows beauty upon her tormentor. It also paints a vivid visual of the flight: the speed and struggle causing the delicate petals to detach and scatter over the demon's dark form.

'परम कल्याणी' विशेषण सीता जी की पवित्रता और मंगलकारी स्वरूप को दर्शाता है। विडंबना देखिये कि जिस रावण ने उनका अपकार किया है, उसी के ऊपर सीता जी के आभूषणों या माला से सुगंधित कमल-पत्र झड़ रहे हैं। यह प्रकृति का एक संकेत है या सीता के स्वभाव का रूपक—वे स्वयं कष्ट में हैं, फिर भी उनके संपर्क में आने वाले पर, चाहे वह शत्रु ही क्यों न हो, 'सुगंध' और 'पुष्प' ही गिर रहे हैं। 'ताम्र' वर्ण (तांबे जैसा लाल) कमल की सुंदरता और ताज़गी को दर्शाता है। यह दृश्य आकाश में एक विचित्र संयोग प्रस्तुत करता है जहाँ क्रूरता के ऊपर कोमलता की वर्षा हो रही है।
