रुदितम् व्यपमृष्ट अस्रम् चन्द्रवत् प्रिय दर्शनम् ।
सु नासम् चारु ताम्र ओष्ठम् आकाषे हाटक प्रभम् ॥ ॥३-५२-२१॥
ruditam vyapamṛṣṭa asram candravat priya darśanam । su nāsam cāru tāmra oṣṭham ākāṣe hāṭaka prabham ॥ ॥3-52-21॥
Translation
Though she was crying and tears were wiped away, her face was pleasant to look at like the moon; with a shapely nose and beautiful red lips, it shone with a golden glow in the sky.
हिंदी अनुवाद
रोने के कारण जिस पर आँसू पोंछे गए हैं, ऐसा वह चंद्रमुख, सुंदर नासिका और लाल होंठों वाला मुख आकाश में सोने जैसी आभा बिखेर रहा था और दर्शन में प्रिय लग रहा था।
English Commentary
This verse captures the tragic beauty of Sita. She is weeping ('ruditam') and wiping away tears, yet her face remains 'priya darshanam'—pleasant to behold, like the moon. The specific mention of 'charu tamra oshtham' (beautiful coppery-red lips) and 'hataka prabham' (golden glow) reinforces her celestial beauty. The contrast is between her internal state (grief, indicated by tears) and her external appearance (radiant gold). It suggests that her beauty is intrinsic and not merely cosmetic; even grief cannot mask the 'golden' aura of Janaka’s daughter as she is carried through the sky.

सीता जी की वर्तमान दशा का अत्यंत सजीव चित्रण है। 'रुदितम्' (रोया हुआ) और 'व्यपमृष्ट अस्रम्' (आँसुओं को पोंछना) उनकी व्याकुलता को दिखाता है। रोने और आँसू पोंछने के बाद भी उनका मुख 'प्रिय दर्शनम्' (देखने में प्रिय) है, जैसे चंद्रमा होता है। उनके होंठ 'ताम्र ओष्ठम्' (तांबे जैसे लाल) हैं और चेहरे से 'हाटक प्रभम्' (सोने जैसी कांति) निकल रही है। आमतौर पर रोने से चेहरा विकृत हो जाता है, लेकिन सीता जी के संदर्भ में, उनका शोक भी उनके सौंदर्य को छिपा नहीं पा रहा है। यह उनकी सात्विक प्रकृति है जो दुःख में भी सौम्यता नहीं छोड़ती।
