चरणात् नूपुरम् भ्रष्टम् वैदेह्या रत्न भूषितम् ।
विद्युत् मण्डल संकाशम् पपात धरणी तले ॥ ॥३-५२-२९॥
caraṇāt nūpuram bhraṣṭam vaidehyā ratna bhūṣitam । vidyut maṇḍala saṃkāśam papāta dharaṇī tale ॥ ॥3-52-29॥
Translation
An anklet adorned with gems slipped from Vaidehi's foot and fell to the ground, flashing like a circle of lightning.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वैदेही के पैर से रत्नों से जड़ा हुआ नूपुर (पायल) खिसक कर, बिजली के मंडल (कौंध) के समान चमकता हुआ पृथ्वी पर गिर पड़ा।
English Commentary
The falling of the anklet ('nupuram') is a specific and poignant detail. Adorned with gems ('ratna bhushitam'), it catches the light as it plummets, resembling a 'vidyut mandala' (bolt or circle of lightning). This signifies the dismantling of Sita's royal adornment and composure. The anklet, usually associated with the sweet sounds of a woman walking in her home, is now a falling debris of a crime. Its likeness to lightning suggests both its brightness and the shocking suddenness of the event. It creates a visual bridge between the sky (where the crime is happening) and the earth (where the evidence remains).

सीता जी के संघर्ष के कारण उनके आभूषण एक-एक करके गिर रहे हैं। यहाँ 'नूपुर' (पायल) के गिरने का वर्णन है। यह नूपुर 'रत्न भूषितम्' है, इसलिए आकाश से गिरते समय सूर्य के प्रकाश में वह बिजली की तरह ('विद्युत् मण्डल संकाशम्') चमक रहा है। नूपुर का गिरना एक अशुभ संकेत भी माना जा सकता है, क्योंकि सुहागिन स्त्री के लिए पैरों के आभूषणों का महत्व होता है। साथ ही, यह रावण के मार्ग का एक और चिन्ह बन जाता है जिसे बाद में वानर खोजते हुए पाएंगे। बिजली की उपमा इसकी क्षणभंगुर चमक और गिरने की तीव्रता को दर्शाती है।
