ह्रियमाणाम् तु वैदेहीम् दृष्ट्वा दीनो दिवाकरः ।
प्रविध्वस्त प्रभः श्रीमान् आसीत् पाण्डुर मण्डलः ॥ ॥३-५२-३८॥
hriyamāṇām tu vaidehīm dṛṣṭvā dīno divākaraḥ । pravidhvasta prabhaḥ śrīmān āsīt pāṇḍura maṇḍalaḥ ॥ ॥3-52-38॥
Translation
Seeing Vaidehi being abducted, the Sun God (Divakara) became dispirited; his radiance was destroyed, and his glorious orb turned pale.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वैदेही का हरण होते देखकर भगवान सूर्य (दिवाकर) भी दीन हो गए। उनकी प्रभा नष्ट हो गई और उनका तेजस्वी मंडल फीका (सफेद/पाण्डुर) पड़ गया।
English Commentary
The Sun ('Divakara'), the cosmic witness of all deeds, reacts viscerally to the abduction. The verse states that the Sun became 'dina' (wretched/sad) and 'pandura mandalah' (pale-orbed). The dimming of the sun serves as a cosmic omen, indicating a darkening of the world due to the eclipse of Dharma. It implies that the brilliance of the universe is linked to righteousness; when a heinous sin like the abduction of Sita occurs, the very source of light loses its luster ('pravidhvasta prabhah') in shock and mourning.

सूर्य (दिवाकर), जो जगत के साक्षी और तेज के स्रोत हैं, वे भी इस पाप को देखकर निस्तेज हो गए। 'दीन' शब्द का प्रयोग सूर्य के लिए करना बहुत बड़ी बात है, जो उनकी ग्लानि को दर्शाता है। उनका 'पाण्डुर' (पीला/सफेद) हो जाना भय या शोक का लक्षण है। मानो सत्य और धर्म के प्रकाशक सूर्य भी अधर्म के इस घृणित कृत्य के सामने लज्जित होकर अपनी चमक खो बैठे हों। यह श्लोक वातावरण में छाई उदासी और अंधकार (अध्यात्मिक और भौतिक) को रेखांकित करता है। जब धर्म ही खतरे में हो, तो सूर्य का तेज भी मायने नहीं रखता।
