व्यक्तम् हिरण्मयान् हि त्वम् संपश्यसि मही रुहान् ।
नदीम् वैतरणीम् घोराम् रुधिर ओघ विवाहिनीम् ॥ ॥३-५३-१९॥
Vyaktam hiraṇmayān hi tvam saṃpaśyasi mahī ruhān । Nadīm vaitaraṇīm ghorām rudhira ogha vivāhinīm ॥ ॥3-53-19॥
Translation
Clearly, you are seeing golden trees (a hallucination signifying death) and the terrible Vaitarani river flowing with a torrent of blood.

स्पष्ट है कि तुम (मृत्यु के लक्षण स्वरूप) सुनहरे वृक्षों को देख रहे हो और रक्त के प्रवाह को बहाने वाली भयानक वैतरणी नदी के दर्शन कर रहे हो।
English Commentary
Here, Sita references Arishta lakshanas—the ominous signs seen by a person shortly before death according to Hindu eschatology. Seeing trees as made of gold when they are not is a classic hallucination attributed to the dying. Furthermore, she mentions the Vaitarani River, the mythological river of hell filled with blood and filth that sinners must cross. Sita is telling Ravana that his reality is already overlapping with the hellish realms. She is not just threatening physical death at Rama's hands, but spiritual condemnation and the torment of hell that awaits him immediately after.

शास्त्रों में 'अरिष्ट लक्षणों' (मृत्यु के पूर्व दिखने वाले संकेत) का वर्णन है। कहा जाता है कि मरने से पहले पापी व्यक्ति को भ्रम होता है—उसे साधारण वृक्ष सोने के दिखने लगते हैं और उसे यमलोक की वैतरणी नदी दिखाई देने लगती है। सीताजी रावण को श्राप नहीं दे रही हैं, बल्कि बता रही हैं कि उसकी नियति तय हो चुकी है। वैतरणी नदी, जो रक्त और मवाद से भरी मानी जाती है, पापियों के लिए नरक का द्वार है। सीताजी का कथन यह सिद्ध करता है कि रावण का यह कृत्य उसे सीधे नरक की ओर ले जा रहा है, और वह अब इस भौतिक संसार से कटकर मृत्युलोक की ओर उन्मुख है।
