न त्वाम् हन्यात् शरैः तीक्ष्णैः इष्ट भार्या अपहारिणम् ।
एतत् च अन्यत् च परुषम् वैदेही रावण अंक गा ।
भय शोक समाविष्टा करुणम् विललाप ह ॥ ॥३-५३-२५॥
Na tvām hanyāt śaraiḥ tīkṣṇaiḥ iṣṭa bhāryā apahāriṇam । Etat ca anyat ca paruṣam vaidehī rāvaṇa aṃka gā । Bhaya śोक समाविष्टा करुणम् vilalāpa ha ॥ ॥3-53-25॥
Translation
"Will he not slay you with sharp arrows, you who are abducting his beloved wife?" Speaking this and other harsh words, Vaidehi, held in Ravana's lap (grasp), filled with fear and grief, lamented piteously.
हिंदी अनुवाद
"वे अपनी प्रिय पत्नी का अपहरण करने वाले तुम्हें तीखे बाणों से क्यों नहीं मारेंगे?" (वे अवश्य मारेंगे)। रावण की गोद (भुजाओं के घेरे) में पड़ी हुई वैदेही, भय और शोक से युक्त होकर, ये और ऐसे अन्य कठोर वचन कहती हुई करुण विलाप करने लगीं।
English Commentary
The narrative tone shifts from Sita's fiery rebukes back to her vulnerable reality. The phrase Ravana anka ga (situated in Ravana's lap/arms) emphasizes the physical violation and her helplessness. While her spirit is unbroken, her immediate situation causes "fear and grief." This verse bridges her prophetic anger with her human suffering. She questions rhetorically, affirming that Rama will kill the abductor, but then collapses into piteous lamentation, highlighting the trauma of the abduction.

यहाँ दृश्य बदलता है। अब तक सीता क्रोध और तेज में बोल रही थीं, लेकिन अंततः वह एक मानवीय स्त्री हैं जो एक राक्षस की पकड़ में हैं। 'रावण अंक गा' (रावण की गोद/पकड़ में स्थित) उनकी शारीरिक विवशता को दर्शाता है। यह श्लोक सीता के चरित्र के दो पहलुओं का संगम है: एक ओर वह वीरांगना जो रावण को श्राप और धमकी दे रही है, और दूसरी ओर वह सुकुमारी जो भय और शोक (Bhaya and Shoka) से ग्रस्त होकर रो रही है। वाल्मीकि जी यहाँ पाठक को सीता की दयनीय स्थिति का स्मरण कराते हैं।
