धिक् ते शौर्यम् च सत्त्वम् च यत् त्वया कथितम् तदा ।
कुल आक्रोशकरम् लोके धिक् ते चारित्रम् ईदृशम् ॥३-५३-९॥
dhik te śauryam ca sattvam ca yat tvayā kathitam tadā । kula ākrośakaram loke dhik te cāritram īdṛśam ॥ ॥3-53-9॥
Translation
Fie on your valor and fie on the strength that you boasted of then! Fie on such character of yours that brings disgrace to your lineage in this world!

धिक्कार है तुम्हारे उस शौर्य और बल पर जिसका तुमने तब (भिक्षा माँगते समय) बखान किया था! लोक में कुल को कलंकित करने वाले तुम्हारे ऐसे चरित्र को धिक्कार है!
English Commentary
Sita uses the emphatic exclamation "Dhik" (Fie/Shame) twice to express her utter contempt. She condemns the physical strength and valor Ravana boasted about earlier, dismissing them as worthless because they are not backed by Dharma. More significantly, she attacks his standing within his own lineage. Ravana, born of a high Brahmin lineage (grandson of Pulastya), is behaving in a way that brings ākrośa (curse/blame/disgrace) upon his entire family tree. Sita points out that power without character is detestable. By stating that his character causes outcry in the world, she isolates him as a moral pariah. This is a powerful rebuke, stripping away the nobility usually associated with kingship and exposing him as a disgrace to his ancestors.

इस श्लोक में सीता जी का क्रोध 'धिक्' (धिक्कार) शब्द के माध्यम से प्रकट होता है। वे रावण के दोहरे चरित्र पर प्रहार करती हैं। जब वह सन्यासी के वेश में आया था, तब उसने अपनी झूठी प्रशंसा की थी। सीता कहती हैं कि वह सब व्यर्थ है। वह रावण को 'कुल आक्रोशकरम्' कहती हैं, अर्थात वह अपने उच्च कुल (पुलस्त्य मुनि के वंश) के लिए अभिशाप बन गया है। उसके इस निंदनीय चरित्र से उसके पूर्वजों का नाम भी मिट्टी में मिल रहा है। 'धिक्' शब्द का दो बार प्रयोग उनकी तीव्र घृणा और अस्वीकृति को दर्शाता है। सीता स्पष्ट करती हैं कि शारीरिक बल (सत्त्व) का कोई मूल्य नहीं है यदि चरित्र (चारित्र) भ्रष्ट हो। यह श्लोक रावण के संपूर्ण अस्तित्व और उपलब्धियों को खारिज करता है।
