Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
वैदेह्याम् ह्रियमाणायाम् बभूव वरुण आलयः ।
अन्तरिक्ष गता वाचः ससृजुः चारणाः तदा ॥ ॥३-५४-१०॥
Vaidehyām hriyamāṇāyām babhūva varuṇa ālayaḥ । Antarikṣa gatā vācaḥ sasṛjuḥ cāraṇāḥ tadā ॥ ॥3-54-10॥
Translation
While Vaidehi was being carried away, the abode of Varuna (ocean) became agitated. Then, the Charanas (celestial wanderers) situated in the sky uttered these words:

(पिछले श्लोक से संबद्ध) वैदेही का हरण होने पर वरुणालय (समुद्र) विक्षुब्ध हो उठा। उस समय आकाश में स्थित चारणों (देवता विशेष) ने ये वाणी बोली:
English Commentary
The focus shifts from the ocean below to the sky above. The Charanas, celestial bards or wanderers who observe worldly events from the ether, break their silence. Their voices (Vacah) emerge from the sky (Antariksha gata). This elevates the abduction from a terrestrial crime to a cosmic crisis. The universe is watching, and the celestial beings are about to pronounce the verdict on Ravana's action in the next verse.

यहाँ दैवीय शक्तियों की प्रतिक्रिया दिखाई गई है। 'चारण' वे देवयोनि हैं जो आकाश में विचरण करते हुए घटनाओं के साक्षी बनते हैं। वे मानवीय हस्तक्षेप नहीं करते, परन्तु सत्य का उद्घोष करते हैं। समुद्र की व्याकुलता के बीच, आकाशवाणी होती है। यह इस बात का प्रमाण है कि यह घटना केवल दो व्यक्तियों के बीच का मामला नहीं है, बल्कि इसका प्रभाव तीनों लोकों पर पड़ेगा। यह एक 'कास्मिक इवेंट' (ब्रह्मांडीय घटना) है।
