English Commentary
Ravana enters his capital. The poet reiterates the motif: Sita is Rupinim Mrityum (Death personified/embodied). The juxtaposition is striking—he enters a city of magnificent architecture, described as having Suvibhakta mahapatham (well-divided/structured highways), representing order and civilization. Yet, by bringing Sita, he introduces the chaos that will burn this structured beauty to ash. The architectural grandeur of Lanka serves to heighten the tragedy of its impending fall.

रावण लंका में प्रवेश करता है। वाल्मीकि पुनः दोहराते हैं—वह सीता को नहीं, 'रूपिणीम् मृत्युम्' (रूप धारण की हुई मृत्यु) को लाया है। लंका का वर्णन 'सुविभक्त महापथाम्' (सुंदर विभाजित राजमार्गों वाली) के रूप में किया गया है, जो रावण के ऐश्वर्य और नगर नियोजन (urban planning) की समृद्धि को दर्शाता है। यह विडंबना है कि इतनी सुंदर और समृद्ध नगरी अब विनाश के कगार पर है क्योंकि उसका राजा अपने साथ विनाश को अंदर ले आया है।
