जनस्थाने वसद्भिः तु भवद्भिः रामम् आश्रिता ।
प्रवृत्तिः उपनेतव्या किम् करोति इति तत्त्वतः ॥ ॥३-५४-२६॥
janasthāne vasadbhiḥ tu bhavadbhiḥ rāmam āśritā । pravṛttiḥ upanetavyā kim karoti iti tattvataḥ ॥ ॥3-54-26॥
Translation
While residing in Janasthana, you must bring me news regarding Rama—specifically and accurately, what he is doing.

जनस्थान में निवास करते हुए तुम लोगों को राम से संबंधित सारी जानकारी (प्रवृत्ति) मेरे पास लानी होगी कि वह वास्तव में क्या कर रहा है।
English Commentary
In this concluding verse of the instruction (and the section), Ravana defines the primary operational objective for the eight Rakshasas. While they are to garrison Janasthana, their crucial role is intelligence gathering. He demands pravṛttiḥ (news/reports) regarding Rama. Specifically, he wants to know kim karoti (what is he doing). Ravana needs to gauge Rama's reaction to the abduction—is he mobilizing allies, wandering in despair, or retreating? The use of tattvataḥ (accurately/in reality) emphasizes the need for high-quality, factual intelligence rather than rumors. Ravana is preparing for the inevitable counter-attack and knows that information is the key to victory. This shows Ravana as a calculating strategist who, despite his rage, understands the importance of monitoring his enemy's movements closely.

अंतिम श्लोक में रावण उन आठ राक्षसों को उनका वास्तविक कार्य (assignment) सौंपता है। उनका काम केवल जनस्थान पर कब्जा करना नहीं है, बल्कि 'गुप्तचरी' (espionage) करना भी है। 'रामम् आश्रिता प्रवृत्तिः' का अर्थ है राम के क्रिया-कलापों की जानकारी। रावण जानना चाहता है कि सीता के अपहरण के बाद राम की प्रतिक्रिया क्या है। क्या वह रो रहा है? क्या वह सेना इकट्ठी कर रहा है? या वह हताश हो गया है? 'तत्त्वतः' (यथार्थ रूप से/सच-सच) शब्द महत्वपूर्ण है; रावण अफवाहें नहीं, बल्कि सटीक खुफिया जानकारी चाहता है। यह रावण की दूरदर्शिता को दिखाता है। वह जानता है कि राम लंका की ओर आ सकता है, इसलिए वह शत्रु की हर गतिविधि पर नजर रखना चाहता है। यह 54वें सर्ग का समापन करता है, जहाँ रावण युद्ध की तैयारी आरंभ कर चुका है।
